Accessibility statement for the DWP login and identification service
This accessibility statement applies to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) login and identification service (OIDV). This service allows citizens to access other DWP online services for Authentication & Identity verification via HMRC (IV).
Using this service
This website is run by DWP. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is
After testing we found all pages within the service accessible other than the issues detailed below.
- The input fields in the online verification journey require manual entry as they do not have the autocomplete attribute.
- Input fields throughout the journey are required but this is only validated with a proceeding error screen.

- We don't have the auto complete feature to reduce double keying. This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria 1.3.5 – Identify Input Purpose.
- This is because of security concerns for the input of personal data and the decision was made on the advice of our security team. Use of the auto complete attribute is subject to an ongoing review.

This statement was prepared on 15 November 2021. It was last reviewed on 20 March 2024.
This website was last tested in June 2023. The tests were carried out by our own testing team within Identity and Trust, DWP Digital.
We tested all the pages within our online identity checking journey against the WCAG 2.1 AA criteria.
